The Las Vegas Raiders might have to play Thursday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers without Josh Jacobs.

Appearing on NFL Network’s Good Morning Football, Ian Rapoport said Jacobs’ status is “very much in doubt” due to a quad injury he suffered in the Week 14 loss to the Minnesota Vikings.

It feels like Jacobs had a long shot to play in the week leading up to tonight’s game. He used to practice sitting outside on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

Trying to play with a quad injury in a short week is a risky proposition anyway. Interim head coach Antonio Pierce initially told reporters after the loss to Minnesota that it was a knee injury to Jacobs.

“Tough guy,” Pierce said of his star running back. “I mean, we’ll look at him and go over it with our medical staff, but he tried to fight as best he could. He didn’t finish. We’ll look at it tomorrow.”

Jacobs suffered an injury in the fourth quarter and went to the locker room to be examined. He finished the game with 34 rushing yards on 13 carries. It was his second lowest output of the season after a negative two yards in the Week 2 loss to the Buffalo Bills.
